We documented The Hmong Prep Academies Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – outside on the stairs of the main entrance to the school. The ribbon cutting had plenty of sunshine but the temperature was a bit chilly. The Formal Program was documented in the new Auditorium, We also took photos of their new Gym & H.S. Cafeteria while people celebrated.
What Hmong College Prep Academy is about, free tuition for students, all day everyday Kindergarten a freshly cooked breakfast and lunch for ALL students, busing for all with door-to-door pick-up/drop off for students in grades K-8 (Twin Cities & select suburbs), Uniforms provide consistency among students, Convenient St. Paul location, just off Snelling by the State Fairgrounds, 8 AM to 3 PM school day, 30% of staff members fluent in Hmong for non-English speakers. Low 15:1 student to teacher ratio and a a focus on college as a end result for each student.
They also offer After school academic support, Sports, clubs, and the arts…there seems to be something for everyone.

Andrews Photography did a food photo shoot for Chef Productions recently. If you into food then you should maybe check them out. Chef Productions ahs been around for a number of years. Hidden behind the scenes in Target Center providing food for many famous events and people. Here is a small body of the work we did for them. Please check out the rest of the photos on their website.

Tips on great Food Photography from Rod Andrew Wilson, Owner and Photographer of Andrews Photography,
1. Have the set ready to go before hand and try using a stand in for the Hero food
2. Food does not stand very long so have it fixed and then shoot it, never eat the food you shoot
3. To get the shine bring a small brush to coat lettuce or food with oil, if you have the budget hire a food stylist
4. Light from the back and reflect the light back into an on the plate
5. Use a tripod and focusing rail if you can

This photo was one of 250 employee portraits we created for Colliers International. They have a unique request or company guide line that all employees must have this background in their photos. This background is white gradient to a 30 percent cyan. Not easy to accomplish so the company has been dropping the background in digitally. Andrews Photography created a custom background and lighting layout to capture the individual and background in one shot. Andrews Photography has saved the Marketing department countless hours of digital work. Party and Event for Beckhoff, food by Prom Center
Andrews Photography does many events and weddings throughout the year. These photos were taken at the party to celebrate Beckhoff’s new building in Savage, MN. The new building is fully Automative and built in the style that Beckhoff is known for. Not a single light switch in the place the building does the thinking for you. Thinking of the year and our great clients
Snow , Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years its on us already. We just got our tax prep packet, you gotta be kidding right? So it got us to thinking about this year 2012.
We really could not have asked for anything better. Wife is happy, kid is healthy and my clients well super fun to photograph.
We met so many awesome people through our business and while we didn’t get a chance to blog about every single session, We sincerely appreciate each and every client of ours. Engagement Session/ the Fall/ Kathy and Jon
Engagement Session for Jon and Kathy.
This was so much fun! We all had a blast but engagement sessions can be a little stressful, to plan a location, choose outfits, come up with a theme, and coordinate a date with Andrews Photography. Here are a few tips to make the planning process easier.
If you do not already have a dream or vision of you two together it is a bit daunting to come up with something fun to do. Lets take Kathy and Jons engagement session.
Kathy asked us at Andrews Photography what we thought would be fun and yet reflect who they are. Jon owns and runs “Jonny Rock Bikes“. So maybe take a ride on a few vintage bikes. Perhaps ride those bikes down a sun filled street like wanderlust lovers in Italy? Kathy said, sounds like a plan I have the perfect dress for that scenario and Jon has a few bikes too.

Kathy works at Wildwood Lodge as the wedding coordinator, hmm we thought food. Apple trees in our back yard are pretty cool right now, how about a picnic basket wine and a few red apples. Jon said he could swing that because hey it is a sitting down thing right?
