Client was Halleland Habicht, They were looking for staff photos, creative client portraits, room documentation, and interesting stock images. Company brand is often associated with a clients photo image. Using images that have a overall theme is very important to expanding ones brand. Call us if your looking to create a uniform image campaign for your company.
What to Wear for a Photo Session?
Your photo session is right around the corner and you are not sure what color to wear or what color looks good on you, so you choose Black. Now, if everyone is wearing Black and you post your photo on LinkedIn or a social media site, guess what? Your image will blend right in with everyone else’s and you will be looked over. Their will be no WOW that’s different! A common mistake most people when going into a photo shoot. Picking out the right outfit is important and Andrews Photography can help.
First, figure out what kind of background you most desire, white is in right now and lit by the sun is the way to go. If you are wearing black and the background is white your body will look heavy. Easy fix, wear a solid color so the viewer focuses on your face.
Background choice number two, pick a color or light grey. If your hair is thinning this is a great go too solution. This will help to create mass hair and the center of focus again is the eyes and face.
Background option number three, if you have a company color try to incorporate that color in the photo with the use of a secondary color or object. Out of focus backgrounds digitally dropped in are pretty hot right now see our website for examples of this technique. http://www.Andrews-Photography.com
Both Great photos pictured above but the one on the right will get noticed in a sea of other people wearing black. Photos from IAAP event we did last night.
The outfit is easier than you think, please don’t ask your mom, unless she happens to be Dawn Stebbing.
• Ask a friend to give you some idea’s of what they thought were your best colors you wore in last couple of months.
2. Ask a co-worker the same thing
3. Try a professional like Dawn Stebbing or a personal shopper at “Nordstrom’s”.
4. Look at your hair if its dark you may want to try ranges of cool reds, warm purples, medium blues
5. Medium blondes go with blues, greens, corals, or even a gray top on a white or light grey background.
6. Everyone, solid colors are best, layer with a scarf or wear pearl earrings for a classy touch, less is more.
7. Don’t forget your tans and browns if you choose one of these, layer it with something colorful under or over it.
8. Guys bring extra sets of everything and don’t forget dark socks, (leave the white ones at home).
Colors are a extension of your personality, keep in mind your main focus of a personal image used for business is. The image should say I am fun to be with and I know what I am doing in my chosen profession.
Ask yourself this while looking at your old photo, Would I be willing to work alongside or with this person in a small room.

Update as of today April 4th we consider this the longest winter we have ever been thru. A foot and a half of snow to shovel today. The poor Easter Bunny will never find our house.
Andrews Photography, Event Photography for Hmong Prep Academy,
We documented The Hmong Prep Academies Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – outside on the stairs of the main entrance to the school. The ribbon cutting had plenty of sunshine but the temperature was a bit chilly. The Formal Program was documented in the new Auditorium, We also took photos of their new Gym & H.S. Cafeteria while people celebrated.
What Hmong College Prep Academy is about, free tuition for students, all day everyday Kindergarten a freshly cooked breakfast and lunch for ALL students, busing for all with door-to-door pick-up/drop off for students in grades K-8 (Twin Cities & select suburbs), Uniforms provide consistency among students, Convenient St. Paul location, just off Snelling by the State Fairgrounds, 8 AM to 3 PM school day, 30% of staff members fluent in Hmong for non-English speakers. Low 15:1 student to teacher ratio and a a focus on college as a end result for each student.
They also offer After school academic support, Sports, clubs, and the arts…there seems to be something for everyone.

Tips on great Food Photography from Rod Andrew Wilson, Owner and Photographer of Andrews Photography,
1. Have the set ready to go before hand and try using a stand in for the Hero food
2. Food does not stand very long so have it fixed and then shoot it, never eat the food you shoot
3. To get the shine bring a small brush to coat lettuce or food with oil, if you have the budget hire a food stylist
4. Light from the back and reflect the light back into an on the plate
5. Use a tripod and focusing rail if you can

Andrews Photography photographed Tamie Ward for Image Evolution. Tamie had come into the studio a week before her session to have her sons graduation photos taken. We did not have time to do a before photo but we can safely say, money well spent on Dawns image consulting.

“Urban Jungle’ was this years theme for Travelers Sunset Affair, which highlighted the new expansion of the Gorilla Forest. Andrews Photography takes real pride in being able to help document this years gala. One of our youngest employees, my son Marco loves this free zoo, one of the last such zoos in the united states. Andrews Photography also donated to the silent auction a corporate portrait experience worth $300.00. With time donated to document the event and ready the images for the web gallery. We are glad to say our donation was valued at close to two thousand dollars.
For those of you who have attended the gala please review our work. Then take a minute to think about any possible friends or companies that could benefit from having their event covered, or possibly using our services as a portrait photographer.

We received some kind words from a past client on our commercial photography. The location was Grand Ave in Saint Paul a unique and timeless apartment. Not much space to document a shower stall and tile work but I have been in smaller units so this was not a challenge.

“I create and install extreme high end shower enclosures. I have tried for years to take photos of my work that present my products in both space and presence. Never satisfied with my results. Recently I had a customer that had us create enclosures for several baths in a architecturally significant building in St, Paul.OH MY ! Can Rod make my glass look good ! How you can get clear glass to show like that….. Well I guess that is what you get when you hire a man at the top of the game. Will always call Rod to shoot my work from now on. Worth every penny!Noah Lamont Woodbury Glass ” – in Saint Paul. |
Lamont Glass does exception work and we were just glad to be a part of their finished project. The nice thing about these kinds of jobs is if you can get the builder, tiler and interior designer to help split the bill for the images created. Talk about a win win for all parties involved.
