Engagement Session/ the Fall/ Kathy and Jon

Engagement Session for Jon and Kathy.

This was so much fun! We all had a blast but engagement sessions can be a little stressful, to plan a location, choose outfits, come up with a theme, and coordinate a date with Andrews Photography. Here are a few tips to make the planning process easier.

If you do not already have a dream or vision of you two together it is a bit daunting to come up with something fun to do. Lets take Kathy and Jons engagement session.

Kathy asked us at Andrews Photography what we thought would be fun and yet reflect who they are. Jon owns and runs “Jonny Rock Bikes“.  So maybe take a ride on a few vintage bikes. Perhaps ride those bikes down a sun filled street like wanderlust lovers in Italy? Kathy said, sounds like a plan I have the perfect dress for that scenario and Jon has a few bikes too.

Kathy And Jon take a minute to gaze into each others eyes.

Kathy works at Wildwood Lodge as the wedding coordinator, hmm we thought food. Apple trees in our back yard are pretty cool right now, how about a picnic basket wine and a few red apples. Jon said he could swing that because hey it is a sitting down thing right?

The colors actually went really well with the HardRock sign across from first ave. Reflections are fun! Orange cones are cool, lots of stuff for fun backgrounds, even within like one block. The quickest hour we have ever had. Ryan you really got the flow he knows what makes Krystie smile. Nice couple keep the love flowing.

Andrews Photography still does proposals for free and we do destination weddings Too! This might be old news but Andrews Photography did win Twin Cities Wedding Photographer of the year!

Fun E-Session thats a Engagement Session to everyone still living in the 90’s

Andrews Photography had the chance to document Shawn and Salinas Love. We planned a nice day out in the snow for them. Thank the lord it was December and we had snow. These two love to get out in the white stuff. Salina you could have worn your boots though, her feet did get cold but she was a real lets get it done kind of gal. Location Saint Paul Very unusual blue car wash. You defiantly don’t see them around anymore, it fit perfectly with there love of cars and the color was coolio too. Location two was near Mears park in lower town by the River. Rusty pillars and hey on a Sunday plenty of room down their. Snow fight was just past the over hang in location two. Wow those two are in love and they know how to have fun. Thanks for the nice letter to Salina you are so thoughtful! We love you too and cant wait to shoot your wedding on May 1st.

Here is her letter she said it was ok to share it with everyone thanks again Salina and Shawn.. Stay tuned I have to get there proposal photos up here any day.

So here’s our story, we orginally already had a photographer booked, and shot our engagement photos, but when we got them back they weren’t exactly what we were picturing.

We didn’t have much time to find a new photographer, so I immediately hopped on the internet and started searching for Twin Cities photographers and here it is… I found Andrews-Photography.com, which was such an awesome thing. Because I fell in-love with his work right away and knew we had to have him. It was the kind of work that you could look at and never get bored of.

This might be kind of embarrassing but I can recall a couple times where I would be at work and need to log onto his website. A Andrews Photography fix so to speak and just look at all the work he’s done over and over again. Call it weird but I can’t stress it enough that our engagement and wedding photos are ones that we want to look back on and say… Yes! This is how much we love each-other and you could just see it in the pictures.

When I first spoke to Rod over the phone, He kind of estimated the price and my jaws dropped. I was kind of worry that we wouldn’t be able to have him shoot for us because he is kind of pricey and our wedding alone is very expensive. After talking for about 8-10 times over the phone, he told me not to worry and let’s just go ahead and set a time and date to meet, so we did.

With the worries of I might not being able to get him, we still went with an open mind. He was very professional, Rod had alot of wonderful information, and made everything so comfortable. We were able to find a price that we were comfortable with, but still kind of high up there. So he told us to take time and talk to our parents, which we did and they thought we were out of our minds crazy. Then we told them that we saw his work actually in person and we fell in-love even more. We were able to convince them that it was really what we wanted. What do you really end up keeping after the wedding but the photos right? That Night we called Rod and booked him for our date.

We also picked a date to shoot our Engagement photos. Funny thing, I was stressing over what to wear for our session. Rod to the rescue! Rods recommendation on what colors we might be able to wear for our Fun E-Session. He had alot of great ideas too on were to photograph us, Shawn is into cars his happens to be orange and Rod knew of a great spot on West 7th, a self service blue old car wash place. This was our first stop the second scene was a old rusted bunch of pillars on Kellogg. When we showed up at our session, we got right to business. Rod was very good at explaining poses, lighting, and directing for us. He made us feel very comfortable and we were able to actually be ourselves. He let us review some of the shots and we can honestly say that we loved every one of them. During our session, there was not a moment where we were never laughing or smiling. We even got to throw some snow at each other. I think if it wasn’t for my choice in foot wear we would have been out there having fun all day. I think about what we would have missed if we would have stayed with the other photographer. My recommendation hire Andrews Photography a professional to document your day.

We would like to thank you again Rod, for doing such a wonderful job and being flexible with us. We look forward to having you for our wedding and referring you to our friends and families!

Fun E-session, Andrews Photography in Alexandria MN

Cody and katrinas Fun E-session, Andrews Photography in Alexandria MN. We were in Katrinas dad was along to get the dog to look left and right. Way to go Bill couldn’t have Alex over the weekend checking out the vineyard “Carlos Creek” for a wedding in August. Wow cant wait for this wedding. Wine barrels, vines, old trees, rolling hills, Beautiful bride and Mr. casual groom. These are just a few of the photos we took during our short stay. Bill, done it without you. When we do site visits we are trying to find out what the grounds or location will give us. When we arrive on the wedding day well determine if plan A is the way to go or do we modify the locations for family, bridal party, romantics. Was it worth driving 369 miles to see a vineyard, not in bloom. We believe so. A little effort to make the bride and groom comfortable and to see her dream first hand is gold. Plus its always nice to get to know our brides and grooms just a bit better before the big day. See there complete Fun E-Session here password is Codykatrina.

Cory and Carley, Engagement Session Andrews Photography the Proposal

Corey Cook set this model shoot up for his soon to be fiancee Carley. He wanted to capture the moment on film when he presented her the ring. Corey said,’ It was so hard trying to keep this secret and she wanted to talk about marriage all week and I was just like oh god I cant wait to surprise her during the shoot at Andrews Photography“. “I had to hide the check book for two months so she wouldn’t see the amount I took out and question me about it”. “It is so hard to surprise her she knows everything and I just wanted to get it on film”.

We have done this in the past for a few friends who were popping the question and it went really well. Lady if your reading this right now and you do not have that ring yet. Send your man to this blog and get him started. We have some pretty cool ideas he can steal too. Think profound moment! This isn’t for everyone just the ones that really want that photojournalistic realism.

Boy friends get in gear and hire your own paparazzi to snap those really cool moments. We charge a flat rate of $400.00 and will travel within the twincities to get the shot. Usual time is around 1-1.5 hours of coverage depending on how nervous you are. Call us today 651.292.9242
