Food Photography, makes me really hungry.

Andrews Photography did a food photo shoot for Chef Productions recently. If you into food then you should maybe check them out. Chef Productions ahs been around for a number of years. Hidden behind the scenes in Target Center providing food for many famous events and people. Here is a small body of the work we did for them. Tips on great Food Photography from Rod Andrew Wilson, Owner and Photographer of  Andrews Photography,

1. Have the set ready to go before hand and try using a stand in for the Hero food

2. Food does not stand very long so have it fixed and then shoot it, never eat the food you shoot

3. To get the shine bring a small brush to coat lettuce or food with oil, if you have the budget hire a food stylist

4. Light from the back and reflect the light back into an on the plate

5. Use a tripod and focusing rail if you can

Tip for a great kid photo session. Try and pick a time that your little one is wanting to play and be loved. Perhaps when they are really fresh in the day or just when they seem to be a little more open to try new things. Keep in mind every kid is different and they end up giving you a great pose. Sometimes it is not the pose you want but when their personality shines thru. That print is the one to put on the wall for sure.

Family session tips for winter or the warm months,

So many times we see families struggle with what do we do or what do we wear during the session. Here are a few tips to consider when thinking of your family photo session.

1. If you have kids under the age of 18, Get them involved in the theme or location of the family photo session. If children get involved they take ownership and are proud to be at the shoot. Maybe it boils down to just what shirt they get to pick out or what treat they get to do after the family photo session. This works though ask them something get them involved.

2. location and style of clothing is based on who you are as a family and how you would like the end portrait to represent. Keep your clothing choices to solid or large patterns. Your not selling a clothing line so the focus should be the family interaction, don’t forget those smiles too.

3. kids between 2-14 its play time with the family don’t tell them your going to the photographer and you better smile or else. keep it light and fun let Andrews Photography do the work in getting smiles on those kids faces for you.

Corporate Headshots of Katherine Minks/ Chef’s Productions and Events

Andrews Photography recently had the opportunity to create some one of a kind creative Corporate Portraits.

Katherine Minks is currently a part of Chefs Production ( RWB Hospitality). Speciallizing in outside private event catering and full service event production. Chef’s Production is an RWB Hospitality Company ( you may be familiar with our other sister companies: The W Hotel at the Foshay, Le Meridian Chambers, Huberts in the Target Center, and Burnet Gallery amongst others). As the exclusive caterer for the Target Center for seven years, our talented staff has served the likes of celebrities such as : Barack Obama , George W Bush, Prince, Beyonce, Rihanna, U2, Cher, The Eagles, Tina Turner, Aerosmith, Target’s National Annual Event, Lil Wayne, and many more !

This photo was one of 250 employee portraits we created for Colliers International. They have a unique request or company guide line that all employees must have this background in their photos. This background is white gradient to a 30 percent cyan. Not easy to accomplish so the company has been dropping the background in digitally. Andrews Photography created a custom background and lighting layout to capture the individual and background in one shot. Andrews Photography has saved the Marketing department countless hours of digital work.
