Family Sessions Located in Studio or on location, Andrews-Photography

Andrews-Photography, Our Focus is You

Family session tips for winter or the warm months,

So many times we see families struggle with what do we do or what do we wear during the session. Here are a few tips to consider when thinking of your family photo session.

1. If you have kids under the age of 18, Get them involved in the theme or location of the family photo session. If children get involved they take ownership and are proud to be at the shoot. Maybe it boils down to just what shirt they get to pick out or what treat they get to do after the family photo session. This works though ask them something get them involved.

2. location and style of clothing is based on who you are as a family and how you would like the end portrait to represent. Keep your clothing choices to solid or large patterns. Your not selling a clothing line so the focus should be the family interaction, don’t forget those smiles too.

3. kids between 2-14 its play time with the family don’t tell them your going to the photographer and you better smile or else. keep it light and fun let Andrews Photography do the work in getting smiles on those kids faces for you.

We hope this helps you prepare for your next family photo session with Andrews Photography. Engagement Session/ the Fall/ Kathy and Jon

Engagement Session for Jon and Kathy.

This was so much fun! We all had a blast but engagement sessions can be a little stressful, to plan a location, choose outfits, come up with a theme, and coordinate a date with Andrews Photography. Here are a few tips to make the planning process easier.

If you do not already have a dream or vision of you two together it is a bit daunting to come up with something fun to do. Lets take Kathy and Jons engagement session.

Kathy asked us at Andrews Photography what we thought would be fun and yet reflect who they are. Jon owns and runs “Jonny Rock Bikes“.  So maybe take a ride on a few vintage bikes. Perhaps ride those bikes down a sun filled street like wanderlust lovers in Italy? Kathy said, sounds like a plan I have the perfect dress for that scenario and Jon has a few bikes too.

Kathy And Jon take a minute to gaze into each others eyes.

Kathy works at Wildwood Lodge as the wedding coordinator, hmm we thought food. Apple trees in our back yard are pretty cool right now, how about a picnic basket wine and a few red apples. Jon said he could swing that because hey it is a sitting down thing right?

Popping the question, Will you marry me

If you know of anyone going to pop the question, “of marriage””Asking will you marry me”. Tell them Andrews Photography will do coverage of the asking of the question for free. This is a new service and trend in the wedding photography business. Andrews-Photography gets the details of the event from the groom to be and stays hidden during the asking. We snap photos of the event as it unfolds and provide for the couple a private website to view the images. The couples we have taken photos of, have loved the service. We understand not everyone feels that their precious moments need to be captured for later enjoyment. That taken in to account! We run into more woman that say wow I wish he would have done that for us!

We enjoy being double O Seven for a hour or two.

All the best,

Rod Andrew Wilson

You want that cool story and some sizzle. You want her head to spin and everyone saying oh wow he did that and he went to Jared too. Try thinking when she was the happiest with you. OK not in bed,get your mind out of the gutter. Bed is the worst place to pop the question, second worst is on Christmas thats Santas day. How about when you saw a play together. The one you didn’t want to see, or a favorite restaurant or famous park. Then pick a day and time that gives her a warm and happy smile, stay away from mondays, her bose will hate you she will not do any work that week. Either will her co workers. Don’t pick 2-3:30 that’s when the body starts to shut down for the day and you need a pick me up. Note try coffee it works on the body and mind. Dont do it on facebook or myspace. Oh you might need a cool photo of the event there buddy to post to those social sites.

Did I mention hire a photographer to do that very thing. One with intuition and a long lens to document the moment as it unfolds. Someone that can blend in, and knows what they are doing! that’s us Andrews Photography. Fast lens, full sensor cameras, high iso, cutting edge angles. Epic coverage of the moment as it runs its course. She will not have another moment like this in till she gives birth. The ring is like a baby, she has been dreaming about this for years. Proposal Maurice and Syreeta, Andrews-Photography

Saint Paul Wedding photographer Rod Andrew Wilson, captured a couple doing something really romantic on valentines day. Maurice had photos taken through Andrews Photography in December for self promotion. He had heard that we do something like the paparazzi. Take great photos of the guy popping the question. Maurice did his homework and it payed off in a big way. Maurice had to reschedule a few times, but finally came up with a day that worked. Valentines day. Maurice had Syreeta’s Aunt bring her two boys to the location. This was a good reason for being at a given place and time. On the video you can hear the boys in the background saying there abc’s. We had two shooters for this event and Syreeta was a bit surprised about all the coverage. She was really grateful though to find out Maurice took the time to really setup something special. Way to go Maurice, getting on the escalator of love. We did a quick little session of the two of them and they were off for brunch with the family. Guys just a quick note if you plan on proposing on an elevator talk fast and make sure you have your laces are secure.Andrews Photography will be doing more free proposals in 2009 only. If you plan on popping the question to your significant other any time now till December of this year call us first. We have many creative ideas and suggestions on how to get it right. Call Rod Andrew Today 651.292.9242

Congratulations again to you both, Maurice and Syreeta, you both have soo much energy!

Say Yes! proposals immortalized for free

Say Yes, Proposals immortalized for free this year in 2009. If we have the date open and your willing, we will follow you for up to one hour to capture that special moment on film for free. You have to be doing the asking though in the twin cities area. Andrews-Photography is always on the cutting edge of fun. Believe me it is fun, the look on her face will never be the same.

Here is a quote from, Cory Cook a groom with class “I wanted this special day to be something we could tell people about and show them too.” “Thanks to the candid shots Rod did for us we couldn’t be happier”. “We liked him so much we hired him to do our destination wedding in Vegas.” He was always thinking of new ways and angles to get the best shot.

The trend is on the rise to have all the moments documented in your life don’t you want to be the first.

Cory and Carley, Engagement Session Andrews Photography the Proposal

Corey Cook set this model shoot up for his soon to be fiancee Carley. He wanted to capture the moment on film when he presented her the ring. Corey said,’ It was so hard trying to keep this secret and she wanted to talk about marriage all week and I was just like oh god I cant wait to surprise her during the shoot at Andrews Photography“. “I had to hide the check book for two months so she wouldn’t see the amount I took out and question me about it”. “It is so hard to surprise her she knows everything and I just wanted to get it on film”.

We have done this in the past for a few friends who were popping the question and it went really well. Lady if your reading this right now and you do not have that ring yet. Send your man to this blog and get him started. We have some pretty cool ideas he can steal too. Think profound moment! This isn’t for everyone just the ones that really want that photojournalistic realism.

Boy friends get in gear and hire your own paparazzi to snap those really cool moments. We charge a flat rate of $400.00 and will travel within the twincities to get the shot. Usual time is around 1-1.5 hours of coverage depending on how nervous you are. Call us today 651.292.9242
