Jack and Jill Organization Event: Rites of Passage

Andrews Photography has been working now on this Event for the last three years. We have noticed a trend in the event. The amount of time invested in each Initiate. Time is now the most expensive commodity we have. Rites of passage has put i the time with each one of these young men. Jack and Jill is a essential catalyst for the future. Without this program I think many young men would be left behind.

Many quotes come to mind to back up the ideal of such programs. “It takes a village to raise a child”. If so then let us pray for more such villages as the Jack and Jill Rites of Passage. These 20+ young men have and forever will feel the reassurance that someone took the time to care for them. They will think back when things get tough, that they have some one to call besides there family. Someone who took the time to set them on a path to live beyond what they could hope for. Ceremonies of becoming a adult of leaving behind the things of your childhood and taking the reins of adulthood are needed.

Every Society has “Rites of Passage”, Spanish customs for a young girl are referred to as a “Quincetta”. When she is considered old enough to take up the commandments and be an adult. The Jewish Community has a similar ceremony the Bar Mitzvah. I have been to many such ceremonies and have noticed a definite change in each individual partaking in the process and ceremony. The Rites of Passage is needed in every community to help these young men weather the storm of being a man.

Rites of passage has done a fantastic job of being flexible and changing with the times. They strive to be better each year and should be commended for their drive and conviction. I am sure they put in many more hours then needed. They proceed out of love to these young gentle men to help guild them down there path.

The grand ceremony the impending event, without this there would be no drive, no catalyst for these initiates to do better. Without the mentors there would be no one guide to spur them on. I hear that a few of these young men do not have fathers or male role models. What a gift to them then to have someone to look up to. If the program can elevate one individual save one person from going down a path he could have otherwise side stepped. Then it is a success for all.

Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah, Andrews Photography, Isabelle’s Celebration

Andrews Photography

A child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah is not only an important rite of passage, but also a celebration of faith to share with family and friends. After all the hard work, the planning, the studying, and the preparations, it will be a day filled with laughter, tears, and even the occasional oops!

All of these memories pass so quickly. That’s why photography is so important to help make this a day you will always remember. Hire a professional to document your day and get results you’ll be proud to show your friends and family.

Here is Isabelle in a secluded spot showing off her pearly whites. Then A great photo of her reading from the Torah in the temple at Bet Shalom Congregation. What a wonderful Temple so many cool little spots to make a artistic portrait.

At Andrews Photography our goal is simple: to create wonderful photographs that capture the uniqueness of your Bar or Bat Mitzvah day. And, we don’t run the event. Instead, we follow the action, moving around unobtrusively, virtually unnoticed, searching for the meaningful moment — the emotional father-daughter dance, friends embracing, grandparents beaming, kids being kids. A little bit about Isabelles day, We were not able to photography any of the ceremony on this occasion. Doug her father, had a great plan in place though and we captured some fantastic photos of Isabelle around the temple before the ceremony. Lots of fantastic friends and family interaction too.

Thanks To Doug and Lynn for booking us to document their daughters special day. At Andrews Photography we love going beyond client expectations. 5 minutes in to the Artistic Portraits, Doug commented on our style, “he though we would just snap a few photos and be done”. Our coverage is unique in that we take Details of the Torah,Prayer book, family photos, friends, Synagogue, artistic and fun photojournalist style coverage of the happenings throughout the day.

Our view is, “Your day is special shouldn’t your photos represent that too”.

Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah coverage starts at $750.00 for 4 hours. Saturday coverage can be a little more depending on what month you choose. Please call for complete day coverage or special requests. We also offer a fun time portrait corner, thing boas hats fun glasses props that kids think are fun.

Historical Court House in Still Water, Wedding Doug and Jamie, Andrews Photography

Wow what a wonderful day. Winter weddings are always a bit of luck and good planning. Thank the lord we had good traveling weather for Doug and Jamies wedding.

The ceremony was at the Historical Court House in Still Water. The reception was in Wisconsin at the R&D Banquet and Catering.

The Historical Court House is one of our favorite spots to document a wedding. The venue seems small but if you hire a photographer that can handle the angles right, you can make it seem like a grand space. Donna and the staff have changed the location of the dressing room for the ladies. The new changing area is in the side room by the small entrance, a good fit. This left the mirror room with the small stairs nice and clean for romantic photos. Kudos To the staff at the Historical Court House.

At first glance, the reception at the R&D Banquet and Catering looked to be a bit shaky. Think new large box building, the front has nothing to look at but the inside layout and decor is top notch. With sage green walls that just happened to be the same accent color the bride picked out, what luck. Large ceilings and a nice box shaped room so everyone had a great view of the toasting. Large dance floor with a stage for the DJ. The bar was a separate room were they had just enough space to place the buffet. Andrews Photography believes in a separate room for the buffet, keeps the dinner room nice and free flowing. Who wants to drop food on the dance floor right? Jamie and Doug did a cool thing, the rise of a new trend. They opted for a simple pasta meal, one with white sauce and the other penne with red sauce. Paired it with fruit and large salad selections, it was a hit. They saved big, real big! With the savings on the food. They could spent the extra money on the photographs and fine art album. This was on the top of their list, a must have. You only get one shot at covering a wedding so get the best you can afford in the way of photo coverage.

Cake, we will not get into this much. We tell all our brides the same thing, when you order your flowers and cake you may not like what you see the day of. Please dont let the little imperfections ruin your day. Jamie had a nice photo of a cake from a magazine that she wanted reproduced. The baker didnt nail the cake presentation but came close, presentation was off but the cake tasted fantastic.

Jamie and Doug thanks for going outside for a few photos and the fun we had at the bar. Great idea about the leg warmers your brides maids looked fantastic. We cant wait to document Your maid of honors wedding next year. Go Kelly!

News for Andrews-Photography. We won the Wedding Photographer of the year from Twin Cities Professional Photographers of America, “TCPPA”. The photo organization has been around for 20+ years and helped raise more than $9,600.00 for Operation Smile. Membership hovers around 300 and boasts some of the best photo speakers. Andrews Photography has a chance every month to get tips and training from some of the top photographers in the world. This has impacted Andrews Photography in so many ways. Being able to get fresh ideas and stay on the cutting edge of what we can bring to our brides. Each month we grow and learn something new. We are able to stay nimble and refine our approach to life and the relationship between bride, groom and photographer.

This Month Rod Andrew Wilson will finally be getting his award from Professional Photographers of America for The Silver Wedding Photographer of the year. You can read about this award and the Canon Par Excellent award he won in 2008 in past blogs. Way to go Rod!

Enjoy the photos of Doug and Jamie, we had a blast taking them and wish them the very best.
